Window mounted air conditioning systems are generally not used for highrise residential developments

GAS POWERED VRF SYSTEMS

Similar to electric powered VRF but gas powered (Natural gas or LPG) . Gas is used to drive a motor, with shaft connection to compressor(s).

Typically, these systems are adopted only where a site has limited power supply.

INDIVIDUAL AIR COOLED CHW GENERATION AND DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS SERVING EACH APARTMENT

Small air cooled chillers are available in sizes to suit individual apartments and will, in conjunction with individual VRF systems installed <50m from the roof, overcome the building height restrictions to allow complete ownership of the apartment air conditioning system to be transferred to the apartment owner / investor / occupier, however:-

  • The system is cost prohibitive
  • The system requires increased shaft sizes for individual CHW piping risers
  • The system arrangement to the best of our knowledge has not been installed in any highrise residential development in Australia.

 

SYSTEMS MORE SUITED TO COMMERCAL APPLICATIONS

Systems utilising Variable Air Volume, Chilled Beams and the like are not suitable for residential developments.
